Beverly’s story

A strong foundation for my future

Hi there! My name is Beverly. I started an apprenticeship in accountancy in August 2008. Here I’d like to tell you something about my apprenticeship, my experience of starting working life, and my first few weeks at PwC.

  • “It's not that long since I was going through the stress of looking for an apprenticeship. I had very mixed feelings. On the one hand I was happy with the prospect of finally finishing secondary school. On the other I had that nervous feeling in my stomach knowing that I would soon have to make a decision that I’d have to live with, and be happy with, for another three years. I couldn't get the thought out of my mind: Where would I feel at home and be able to learn something useful? I went to countless information days. Then I got the opportunity to try out life at PwC. Once I’d been to the open day, I was really excited! After that I went for an interview, which only confirmed my feeling that I had chosen the right place to work. By the beginning of August the time had finally arrived: my first day at work! I was nervous, but really looking forward to it. I soon stopped being nervous once I was immersed in life at PwC. The working atmosphere is really nice, and everyone's very friendly, helpful and open.

I’m starting out in internal services, which among other things includes archiving and the post. After only a few days in the archive I was already doing a number of jobs on my own. I was so well integrated in the team that I had the feeling I’d already been part of it for a long time. I’ve just moved on to postal services. I’m being given a very good introduction and have already learned a great deal.

I’m only just starting my apprenticeship, but I’m already looking forward to all the exciting departments and work that await me. The training PwC is giving me is well structured and extremely varied, and I’m also enjoying it a lot!"
