Getting together, learning about our shared projects of the past, present and future and enjoying a day within our great network of Internal Firm Services (IFS) colleagues – the IFS event is a well-loved yearly event that, luckily, we were able to organise in late summer of 2021 again. This year, all colleagues from our teams of IFS came together for a day filled with updates from PwC, information on “The New Equation”, our new global strategy, and valuable updates and learnings on ESG. What better topic to build the bridge between spending time together with colleagues, learning, but also having lots of fun. This year, our firm’s effort around all topics related to ESG and Corporate Responsibility gave our IFS Day a meaningful central theme: we came together to do good. Teaming up with a handful of NGOs helped us to bring a programme filled with team building yet meaningful workshops, as we encouraged our colleagues to do good with their hands (by mending bike tubes together with Velafrica), brains (entering a “hackforgoods” challenge with Friends International and Earthworm Foundation) and – of course – hearts!
Whereas we felt strongly about all our activities, one project in particular filled our hearts with joy: together with Insieme Zürich, a provider of a large variety of leisure activities for people with disabilities and situated in our Zurich office neighbourhood Oerlikon, we took the first steps towards making jam.
Whereas we felt strongly about all our activities, one project in particular filled our hearts with joy: together with Insieme Zürich, a provider of a large variety of leisure activities for people with disabilities and situated in our Zurich office neighbourhood Oerlikon, we took the first steps towards making jam. Happily sitting side by side, participants from both PwC and Insieme cut almost 50 kilogrammes of plums into pieces, helping each other out, answering questions, mingling, laughing. The plums were then cooked to jam and filled into jars.
At the same time, another group of PwC employees brainstormed over the perfect label for the jars for the Christmas market. Then, they presented their ideas and drafts to a jury consisting of Insieme and PwC colleagues. Thanks to our talented teams, we have come up with this wonderful label:
A total of 9 Insieme helpers with disabilities and almost 40 helpers from PwC were involved in the whole process – together, we experienced what it means to support each other, find connection in similarities rather than spotting differences, and shape a community built on trust, caring and fun. And after such a successful and productive get-together, Insieme successfully sold all 520 jars of jam at the Christmas market in Zurich Oerlikon, with all earnings going to further fund the organisation.
