Networking while you’re doing something good? This was the motto of this year’s Internship Day. Once a year, our Swiss interns come together to get to know each other, build a professional network, and experience something new. So, this year, in the light of ESG and corporate responsibility, one of our strategic priorities at PwC, our interns grabbed some gloves and a garbage bag and cleaned up a strip in Bern.
Why? Because there is a huge need to do so. Climate change is one of the most pressing problems in our world today. It’s in the interests of everyone that we see to that systemic change averts climate catastrophe and unlocks the potential of green growth. At PwC, we believe that the business community has a key role to play in making that happen. And we’re determined to play our part.
At PwC, we believe that the business community has a key role to play in making green growth happen. And we’re determined to play our part. Hence, we partnered up with “Alaya” and “Let’s Talk Waste” with the mission to tackle plastic pollution at its root: our consumption and conception habits.
Hence, we partnered up with “Alaya” and “Let’s Talk Waste” with the mission to tackle plastic pollution at its root: our consumption and conception habits. So, we organised a set of activities looking at different dimensions of the waste issue. These included a clean-up in the city of Bern, a team-building recycling activity to report on the positive impact of the clean-up and an awareness-raising workshop to discuss the impact of waste and the alternatives.
The combination of all these activities allowed our interns to have a sustainable impact on the environment while better understanding the waste issue and get concrete tools to act at the individual level. To complete the day, we organised a zero waste lunch with local and seasonal products. And what a day we had! Our interns collected:
- 81 aluminium cans
- 26 PET bottles
- 59 glass bottles
- 3,800 cigarette butts
- 11 face masks
- 140 litres of residual waste
At PwC, we are committed to ESG and walk the talk! Join us in our endeavour, and start contributing today. Are you in?
