Born in Genoa, Italy, to an Italian Mother and German Father, my parents moved to Gren-zach-Wyhlen, Germany, when I was four months old. I attended nursery school in Grenzach-Wyhlen and took ballet and theatre classes in Basel. Crossing between the two countries all by myself, at that young age I came to know two deeply different languages and cultures. Then we returned to Italy, where I grew up at my family’s agritourism and completed my education, ultimately earning Bachelor and master’s degrees from the University of Genoa. I travelled to Switzerland and Germany frequently
How where you influenced by your cross-cultural childhood?
Having lived in two very different countries, travelled a great deal, and completed study-abroad programmes in London, USA, and Scotland gave me a strong sense of independence and the determination to manage things by myself. In short, versatility and the ability to solve problems.
The difficult reality of moving as a child has turned into a clear opportunity for the future. Taking the best of both worlds, I am equally comfortable in both the Italian and German speaking regions of Switzerland. In fact, both cultures have defined my temperament, such as a sense of humour and lively personality, without losing track of the situation and context and remaining serious when appropriate. I love both the sea and the mountains.
How do you apply the skills you gained during your childhood at your job in Financial Audit?
In Financial Audit I quickly settle into new roles and can apply a broad range of technical and soft skills through tailor-made learning on and off the job and through regular feedback from colleagues and superiors. The programme allows me to deepen my knowledge, to expand my network and to take my career into my own hands and shape it according to my personal preferences.
As a result of my cross-cultural childhood but also thanks to my job, I continue to develop excellent interpersonal skills. People here are international, flexible and open minded. We rely on each other’s abilities and I’m sure this makes me a better and trusted member of my team in Financial Audit.
