IT systems are becoming more complex and extended. Cyber leaders need greater visibility to ensure protection and add value.
How do cyber leaders keep their organisations secure when they don’t have full visibility of their IT estates? This is a very real problem for many cybersecurity teams: in research conducted by PwC last year, 75% of executives said they were worried about the amount of complexity in their technology, data and operating environments.
This complexity creates real problems when it comes to visibility. Many executives worry about significant blind spots as they survey their organisations, both internally and externally. For example, many concede they have almost no understanding of the risks that third parties and the extended supply chain may now pose. In today’s digitalised world, cyber professionals can’t afford to be in this position – the elevated threat level and growing regulator security make visibility an ever more pressing issue. As the organisation’s vulnerabilities grow – through connected devices, say, remote working or new supply chain partners – so too will the risk of blind spots and unmitigated risk.
This is an issue that the Tanium and PwC alliance is determined to get to grips with. Tanium provides real-time visibility and control through an integrated platform that enables organisations to map their end points and to identify potential cybersecurity risks. Without such capabilities, it takes too long to identify threats of malicious activity, let alone to remediate them.

Simply plugging in new tools and updating protocols is a never-ending process. Instead, organisations need a single platform that provides complete visibility of every endpoint and the ability to take immediate control of any part of the network – a means with which to wrestle power back. This is what Tanium’s integrated solution aims to provide: clear lines of sight and immediate control.
With those foundations in place, cybersecurity leaders can focus on adding more value. Already, PwC’s research suggests that many organisations now expect the cyber function’s mission to shift towards developing trust and supporting business growth. More than half regard the challenge as going beyond cyber defence and controls. However, to achieve that goal, leaders need a single source of the truth on where the organisation stands on cyber – and the progress it has made. They need a means with which to tell that story more effectively, as well as to set out the narrative on how risk is assessed and prioritised, and how spending is becoming more strategically focused. Again, integration provides the solution – offering a single read-out of the organisation’s current status.
Advanced organisations are getting better at achieving these goals. PwC’s study concludes that the most improved organisations are now five times’ more likely to have streamlined all operations across the enterprise. Working with Tanium, there is an opportunity for many more organisations to realise such benefits.
