Save the date: Swiss Sustainability Reporting Excellence Awards 2025

PwC Switzerland and the University of St. Gallen’s Institute for Law and Economics (ILE-HSG) are leading the way in Swiss sustainability reporting: For the second time we are proud to present awards that recognise pioneering efforts, drive progress, and promote excellence in Swiss sustainability reporting.

In recent years, sustainability and ESG (environmental, social, governance) criteria have evolved from being peripheral concerns to central topics in society, politics, business, and among investors. Non-financial reporting has grown in importance due to regulatory requirements and its role in creating lasting value for stakeholders and society. At PwC, we believe that sustainability reporting is more than just another disclosure tool – it’s a catalyst for transformative change.

In recognition of the critical role of sustainability in corporate responsibility and business success, PwC Switzerland and the University of St. Gallen’s Institute for Law and Economics (ILE-HSG) developed the Swiss Sustainability Reporting Excellence Awards. These annual awards will be presented for the second time on 17 September 2025, will honour companies that exemplify excellence in sustainability reporting. By celebrating these leaders, we aim to identify those who set new standards and encourage continuous improvement in sustainability reporting.

About the awards

The Swiss Sustainability Reporting Excellence Awards evaluate a diverse selection of companies, including both public interest entities listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange and privately held firms with a turnover of at least CHF 1 billion. These organisations disclose sustainability information in sustainability reports, annual reports, or integrated reports. For our 2025 awards we considered sustainability information on the financial year 2024 reporting period published until 30.06.2025.

Based on a methodology developed by the ILE-HSG in line with latest research insights, we assess companies’ sustainability disclosures, focusing on quality, transparency and comprehensiveness of their sustainability reporting. Our aim is to identify and recognise those that demonstrate excellence in sustainability reporting and set new standards in the field. More details you will find in our whitepaper.

The selected companies cover a wide range of fields. They span academic and educational services, basic materials, consumer cyclicals, consumer non-cyclicals, energy, financials, government activity, healthcare, industrials, real estate, technology, utilities as well as institutions, associations, and organisations. This diversity ensures that our ratings and benchmarks are robust and representative of the Swiss market.
