Leadership isn’t just about holding a title. We believe it starts with developing and nurturing key skills early. That’s why we created the Leadership Journey programme. Through interactive challenges and a hands-on Skills Day in Zurich, participants build expertise in communication, networking, unconscious bias, and more.
Hear from our Senior Associate, Kathrin, to learn about her experience with the programme.
The Leadership Journey programme is an interactive and gamified leadership development program for Associates and Senior Associates at PwC Switzerland. It features real-life challenges, around topics like communication, networking, unconscious bias, presentation skills and beyond.
Once we complete all challenges, we’re invited to the Skills Day - a one-day classroom training in our Zurich office. It focuses on practicing all skills that we have learned with e-Learnings during the year. On the Skills Day, we also receive valuable feedback on our performance, offering a unique opportunity for professional growth and connection within the firm.
Leadership development is important at every level in an organisation, because it focuses on improving soft skills that are valuable in all kinds of roles, not just official leadership positions.
Kathrin GabathulerSenior Associate, AssuranceLearning about topics like resilience, unconscious bias, personal development, and decision-taking is always valuable. Additionally, focusing on leadership development supports personal growth by providing people with tools and knowledge that enrich their lives.
By building these skills, individuals are more able to handle personal and professional challenges.
Since I started as an Associate, I have participated in this programme every year. It presents a valuable opportunity to expand my perspectives and improve my skills, which is important for daily collaboration.
It's also a way to broaden my horizons by learning about topics which I don't know as much about - like unconscious bias.
I'm also enthusiastic about the prospect of learning something new. Continuous learning is very important and motivating for me. This programme provides the perfect platform to acquire new knowledge and skills.
It serves as an excellent way to network with colleagues at our own level, allowing us to build relationships and strengthen our internal network. Additionally, the Skills Day facilitates the exchange of perspectives and insights with people from other Lines of Service, broadening our understanding and encouraging collaboration across the firm.
This years skills day was particularly interesting, as it provided insights into how professionals from Advisory cultivate and maintain their client relationships, which are often different from those in Audit. Learning about these diverse approaches has broadened my horizons and shown me how other people form their connections with clients.
The Skills Day also features inspiring external instructors who bring fresh perspectives and expertise to the sessions. The topics covered are relevant and tailored to each level, making them even more interesting and tangible.
Overall, the Skills Day is a valuable component of our professional development, fostering growth and enhancing our ability to connect internally.
